Heron doing its business

My mother and I went to Richmond Centre today to get some supplies for my upcoming trip to Ontario.

Cutting through the Minoru Park.

Y through pin-hole (filter)
Using the pin-hole art filter in the camera. Very cool.

The park was dominated by Canada Geese.

We tried to photograph the cherry blossoms near the swimming pool, but cars in the parking lot made us think twice before photographing the scene.

In the end, I got this Coghlan's No-See-Um Head Net to protect my head from biting bugs in the East. I hope it works. If anyone has any advices and tips in making my life as comfortable as possible in Eastern Canada during the spring and summer, please please help me (e.g. the best bug repellent, type of clothes to bring, etc). Thank you in advance!!!

Richmond Centre is going through some major renovations right now. Only a biology fanatic like me will be interested in photographing this blockage. I wonder what kind of butterfly it is?

Afterwards, we bought a stainless cup (for myself), had Pho (and watched Canada's sledge hockey team being upset by the Japanese team), and shopped for Taiwanese products from a new Taiwanese supermarket.

Once we arrived home, time for my daily bike ride.

It was blue sky in the morning. In the afternoon, it was hazy.

From the observation deck.

Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias)
Who says heron has no use for nestboxes?

Canvasback (Aythya valisineria)
Female Canvasback diving in the background while I photographed the heron. She deserves some recognitions too.

Shy Heron
Heron being shy.

Heron doin' its business...
Because it was about to do this....

Continuing with the bike ride.

Golden-crowned Sparrow (Zonotrichia atricapilla)
A bit windy today. Golden-crowned Sparrow not being very active.

Someone put a bone tag on a salmonberry. Once again, playing with the pin-hole art filter.

Pretty flowers through pin-hole (filter)

Flowers at the entrance of the Terra Nova Sharing Farm parking lot (anyone know what kind of flower this is?).

Heron still there.

Hazy sunset.

Thank you, Karen. I will be traveling to a town called Carden in Ontario next month assisting on a project for 4~5 months. Should be exciting!
