Langley's Nicomekl River & RNPH again!

After my work in Langley ended earlier than expected, I decided to walk around and check out the nearby parks. But maybe because I was in the mood to hurry back to Richmond or something, the parks were not too appealing.

Nicomekl River, but I must be upstream because it certainly doesn't look what Wanderin' Weeta had described.

Then I headed back to Richmond. I decided to get off a couple of stops before my "home" stop and went to Terra Nova and slowly walked back home. And guess who I saw again!?

Ring-necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus)
Yep, the Ring-necked Pheasant was out again and was also saw by three people.

More pictures of this beautiful male.

Then two walkers talking loudly headed our direction and that spooked the bird and it ran off to the tall grasses. I continued and walked to the slough.

A relatively nice day.

A pair of Bald Eagles were calling loudly on the trees. Perhaps even the same pair saw by Hugh of Rock Paper Lizard?

Female Hooded Merganser.

Eastern Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis)
This Eastern Grey Squirrel startled me when I walked by. Then it froze on the tree looking at me (and me looking at it).

Male House Finch singing beautifully.

Sky-watching on 2010-02-25
Quite a nice day, although I think my camera over-exaggerated the blue colors when on the iA(uto) mode.

Light cirrus clouds.

Almost full moon!

Yes, you were far upstream. Just beyond where Highway 99 crosses the river, it narrows quite a bit; the lower portion has probably been dredged to allow medium-sized pleasure boats to anchor. It crosses the farm lands as a narrow stream, then dwindles around 176th St. to less than three car-lengths wide. By the time it reaches Langley, it's barely a creek.
