What it means to be a wild animal

Today made me think about what it means for an animal to survive.

To live outdoors for your entire life, which isn't too bad when the view is like this.

To copulate in public - Muskrats having sex. (Seeing this made me look for the rest of my post).

Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias)
To wait and rest and be patient.

Snow Goose (Chen caerulescens)
To protect and stay alert.

Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) feeding on an unidentified vole
To feed and survive. (And to die from the vole's perspective).

To stay health by keeping one's self clean and neat (especially after eating).

To live another day. And to try to weather through bad weathers ahead (e.g. more rain and snow). Sigh. Maybe the life of a wild animal isn't too glamorous after all.

I often think what it would be like to be a street person ... I size up possible places to lay my head ... and wonder however I would stay warm? I'm very thankful to have a good roof over my head!

To live another day. They have it tough out there. Wonderful images!

Oh yeah. People without homes. I forgot about them for a second there. I am getting too spoiled with my accommodation and meals and internet. Sigh. It's indeed a tough world out there.

And thanks for visiting, MaineBirder!

Hi,
Thanks for your kind visit to my blog. Yours is also very nice. I love this post because we have a tendency to forget that life, wild life is not that easy and the animals probably have to struggle for life, just in a different way than us... It is a struggle for surival!!
