No post yesterday because the weather wasn't permitting. There was rain and flurry this morning and afternoon. So I thought another day indoors again. But the sky cleared a bit in the afternoon, so I took a chance and grabbed my bike and headed out.

Stared down by the male while his female went down diving.
Pretty looking female Hooded Merganser who looked like she just got out of the shower.

Found this
shield bug while I was looking around. Looks like a
Red-Cross Shield Bug and it was overwintering as an adult beneath a tree bark but the bark felled down, causing it to be exposed.

Then the rain started to come so I had to bike through the rain and wind to get home. The rain is falling down hard right this moment too.

Those coastal rains ... more discouraging than the odd flurry we get ... but piled up dirty snow banks don't make for good pictures either!
I think so too! I can stand the snow but not so much the rain. However, some people here are actually put off by the snow we have this winter and welcome the rain instead - which completely boggles my mind.
But yeah, it does apply when the snow stays nice, soft, white, and in solid form.
