Photos of the day: Animal Portraits

Here are some of the photos that I took today. Surprisingly, some of these animals stayed really still for me to take their photographs. From the deepest part of my heart, thank you all.

I like the little white feather stuck on this male Mallard.

Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos)
No feather stuck on this one's head, but it's a handsome-looking bird.

Golden-crowned Sparrow (Zonotrichia atricapilla)

Another Golden-crowned Sparrow. Huckleberry Days wrote a recent post about these "little brown birds" a few days ago.

American Bittern (Botaurus lentiginosus)
Got really lucky today and saw this American Bittern (a few metres away from me) at the other side of the ditch with an unobstructed view.

Yes, I can still see you. But thank you for not flying away.

Cat
Somebody's cat.

Nice shots in deed! Love those pics of the bittern ... so cooperative!

Thanks.

That bittern was definitely cooperative. I wonder what their strategy is, because if I am a predator, they'd be eaten already.
