Birding Saturday

On this sunny Saturday, I biked to South Dyke Trail and then to Finn Slough.

Not a cloud in sight.

After taking the photos of the view above, I got a feeling that someone was looking at me. Turned out it was this hawk - not completely sure if it is a Sharpie or a Cooper's.

A heron in the field looking for food.

Taking off.

Rather than biking the usual route, I walked my bike along the (abandoned?) rail tracks.

Through the trees.

Long Shadows
Long shadows.

Another Accipiter when I looked back where I just walked by. Only have this silhouette to show for.

Then I got to Finn Slough. I mainly came here for the cats. But it was too cold, and I only had the Dinner Plate Island School to photograph.

Then I spotted this little cute bird in front of someone's house. Its identity still needs to be solved. Help please?

Once I turned around to go back home, I saw this Mute Swan on the Fraser River.

Mute Swan (Cygnus olor)
It was behaving kind of strange with its head tilted to one side. But other than the weird tilt to one side, I can't tell anything wrong with it.

Someone who was also taking pictures of the river (or swan) pointed to the Bald Eagle just above me. Oh wow!

I think another eagle nearby was calling and so it was moving its head around to listen better.
Then it took off and flew across the river.

Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias)
Another Great Blue Heron - hunting on the riverside.

Trailing clouds
Today's sunset. I wish I saw yesterday's haloed sunset that many people saw, including Wanderin' Weeta. What an interesting phenomenon.

My bike and my shadow against the brickwall. Enhanced to bring out the shadow.
