I drove to Iona this afternoon and decided to walk the entire way along the jetty, which I haven't done before.
Definitely a nice day to take on this task.
Saw a grebe along the jetty. Probably a Western Grebe.
Lots of Pelagic Cormorants flying overhead for some nice bird-in-flight shoots.
First time I've seen a bird preen mid-air.
More fly-bys.
Also saw a couple Loons as well.
I got some nice pictures of the female Surf Scoter as well.
Unidentified flower. Some kind of a daisy?
It was a longer walk than I expected, but definitely good exercise!
Resting cormorants.
At the end!
There were many birds resting and foraging on the rock piles to the side of the jetty.
I believe these are Sanderlings (Calidris alba), correct me if I am wrong.
Saw many of these small Bonaparte's Gulls (Larsus philadelphia) too as well. Lifer!
Many large groups of Surf Scoters well hanging out right next to the jetty. The sun was slowly setting, so lighting was quite poor. Nevertheless, I like this image.
As I slowly walked back, the sun was setting behind me.
A picture-perfect day.

Hi PSYL
Lovely images.
I think your "daisy" is a Coreopsis, of some description.
Cheers
Denis
Thank you very much, Denis!
