July update - Pikes Peak (July 9 - 10)

After returning back to Gothic for one night (for real food and shower), my friend accompanied me to Pike National Forest to help me measure Mertensia alpina.

Back in B.C. & new home & walking along Lake Ontario

I landed in Richmond early yesterday morning (just after midnight). My family bought a home in Richmond when I was away in Ontario, and so it was my first time seeing the new home. It's nice, still in Richmond, but now I live right across from a shopping centre and no longer within a easy biking distance to the dyke, so I will have to figure something out in the coming days to keep me from being deprived of my doses of nature-watching.

Yesterday, though, I drove my mom to Terra Nova and walked around the share farm. Lots of flowers!

Beautiful Night with silver X'mas tree, Downtown photo, Blurry train, and (almost) full moon

After yesterday's experience with night photography and long exposure shots. I decided to bring my tripod to work today and hope to use it after work.

Yesterday as I was heading towards Sky Train, there was an celebration outside the Robson Square Ice Rink. It all looked very exciting and fun but since I was in a hurry I only stopped for a few quick snaps of photos. Today, I went back and with my tripod, I took more photos of the ice rink, people skating, and of course, this enchanting silver X'mas tree!

I like it!

Waiting and watching
Inside the station, I couldn't help but take another long exposure shot of the sky train arriving! I always wanted to take a good photo of this - with blurry train and still people. Another reason I like this picture is because of this stranger (who was also holding a camera on a tripod). Great mind think alike, no?

Another shot of the moon as I get home. No more full moon, but still pretty close.

Handsome Little Black (a.k.a. Blackie)

I just returned back to Taipei getting ready for work tomorrow. Overall, I had a nice time this weekend in my grandparents' home simply just hanging out.

The back garden and a quite traditional old home.

On Sunday, my aunt gave the family dog Blackie a nice clean bath.

He doesn't hate bath, nor like it for that matter.

After his bath, we tied him to a chair to avoid him running around with his wet fur and getting dirty so soon.

Still itching

How about now?

While Blackie waited for his fur to dry to be released, I took some handsome portraits of him.

In the afternoon, my aunts dropped me off at the train station, and it's time to go back.
