AM: Vancouver, PM: Finn Slough

My mother and I won a couple of tickets to Vancouver's 19th Annual Wellness Show and it was our destination for the day (and Sunday, as it turned out). It was our first time attending this event, so it was quite new and we didn't know what to make out of it. However, given that we had free tickets and was given a bag with free goodies each and sampled lots of delicious food, I'd say we had a good time overall.

Afterwards, we headed outside to enjoy the beautiful views.

Not a cloud in the sky.

I believe this is a Pelagic Cormorant. In breeding plumage?

After getting home, I decided to continue enjoy the rest of the day outside by biking to Finn Slough.

Still no clouds

Walking along the tracks again

There were some birds chirping and flying in the shrubs next to the railroad, but they are all too small and too quick for me to see. I managed to see this junco clearly through the branches.

Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus)
This immature Bald Eagle wasn't too difficult to spot since it was just flying in circles above me.

Bird traffic along the river was busy, such as this male Common Merganser

This is a female Common Goldeneye, distinguished by its generally all dark-bill with yellow near tip.

Then I spent the rest of the trip following these two Common Mergansers trying to get some photos.

The second picture reminds me of the Loch Ness monster picture. Haha!

Love the train track and bird among the branches picture.
