Sunny snowy day & Photographed a nuthatch

Wow, this frigid cold temperature (~ minus 20 degrees C) takes some use to, especially for someone from Lower Mainland, where it rarely drops below minus 5 degrees C in the wintertime.  Nonetheless, this is exactly what I always want to experience in a "Canadian" winter, and sunny winter days are my favourite time of the season because I can go out and take photos without worrying my camera getting wet from the snow (although now I realize I need to worry about my freezing hands and fingers).

Saw this shy male NOCA hiding in the branches.  He didn't appreciate me pointing my camera lens at him when he was trying not to do much of anything in the cold day.

Came across this animal track that I think was similar to the one I saw on Saturday.  Snowshoe Hare tracks?

The wildlife sighting of the day would be this nuthatch that was just a few meters away from me at my eye-level picking up little critters from the bark.  One good thing about this weather is that animals don't want to move as much and so I got these quite nice shots of the bird.

As most people know, nuthatches forage "downwards" on a tree, but according to All About Birds, "[nuthatches] don’t lean against their tails the way woodpeckers do."  Does this mean they have really strong grips on the tree surface?  An interesting question...that is somewhat answered in Wikipedia.
