Grant's Woods and George Langman Sanctuary

It's been a while since I last posted a post. Between today (my off-day) and the last time I posted, I had two more off-days when I went to Orillia and checked out the city and the surrounding natural areas - Grant's Woods and George Langman Sanctuary, both of which I would definitely recommend for people to visit and enjoy nature.

During this time, I also saw and photographed plenty of cool animals and plants in our field site.

Wood Lilies (Lilium philadelphicum)

Viper's Bugloss (Echium vulgare)

Lastly, the shrikes have successfully breed and fledged some youngs already, which means the parents are extremely aggressive during this time.

Work is going well lately. We had been very busy the last couple of weeks and the coming weeks too since we were transferring the fledglings into the release cages and will be releasing them into the wild in a week or two. In addition, the heat wave in the last week had been quite difficult, especially without a running water source (the pump to our old well was stuck and so we had to arrange a new well to be drilled).

Anyways, I wasted most of my morning organizing and posting photos. I am off to check out the Mariposa Folk Festival this week!
