Apple cider making

This afternoon I was at a friend's house making apple cider and having Thanksgiving turkey dinner.  This was our first time making apple cider so it was quite interesting.  Here was how we made it.

Picked apples from tree.  It was raining out so I didn't take photos of us apple-picking.

Cutting and blending apples, and then we put the pulp in cheesecloth and placed the whole thing in a colander.

Putting something heavy on the cheesecloth (we first used a pot of water and then used clamps to tighten the pressure), and something to collect the squeezed juice below.

In the end, we ended up with two half-full juice containers and two full glass jars.  Not bad for a couple of hours of work, much easier than syrup-making, I'd say.
