Back to biking in Richmond again

I patched up another puncture in my bike tire today so that I can finally go out and get some exercise.

My first stop was Garden City Community Garden.

Most of the plants are putting on beautiful flowers for reproduction.

Strawberry plants seem to be a favorite for many gardeners.

 

As expected, there are many pollinators visiting the flowers. 

While photographing the flowers, I was surprised by this hummingbird in front of me and visiting the red flowers.  Unfortunately I didn't have the proper lens on, so I took a video with my P&S instead.


The Apple Orchard

Small and tart-looking apples.

Then I started biking towards Finn Slough.

Saw many of these containers around the city lately.  They are used to collect "plant pests" - insects, perhaps?

Honey bee visiting clovers.

Saw many Tree and Barn Swallows darting back and forth in front of me.  Photographing swallows is an almost impossible task, so I tried manual-focusing at a certain distance and snapped away while the swallows start to fly towards me.  These two turned out decent, the rest were just blurry shots of nothingness.
